Hardware: the explosive bits
Hardware, unlike software, can easily be thrown against
a wall with great force should one lose ones patience with it.
I have only a passing interest in mainstream computer hardware.
I find that my interest gets more piqued with exotic (if, on the rare
occasion, less
powerful) machines, like the beauties from
SGI,
Sun and
the now defunct DEC alpha range to mention
just a few. I also wouldn't mind getting my paws on a nice
dual PowerPC machine from
IBM now that
Apple have started shipping OS X on
Intel architecture.
Rather sadly, real-life luxuries like food, clothing and shelter
have kept me from splurging my hard earned cash on these power-sucking
monsters. Should anyone feel the need to donate ancient machines
fitting any of the above descriptions or from any of the above
manufacturers (except Intel, as I have plenty of those, thank you very
much), please drop me a note and let me know.
Yeah ... if you want to throw in a new car, I'll take that as well :-)
On the other hand, if you have an interesting article and/or views
on any esoteric hardware, I'll gladly give up a little of my soapbox
to your article and/or views.
